Client:

Buro Property has become the first developer in Latin America to roll out office access via HID’s wallet credentials. The launch begins at Insitu Santa Fe in Mexico City — enabling all tenants to access the workplace using only their Apple and Google smartphone or smartwatch — with further rollouts planned for corporate buildings Puerta Polanco and DEK Polanco. This innovative access solution was deployed in collaboration with HID, Sharry, IR Systems, Skidata, Deprisa, and Schindler.

Buro Property, a real estate developer and landlord focused on creating modern office environments in Latin America, has launched wallet credentials as an enhanced, more secure alternative to physical access cards.

With the first deployment at Insitu Santa Fe, all staff and tenants at these two mixed-use towers in Mexico City can now walk from the street to their desks simply by using their iPhone, Apple Watch, or Android devices. The rollouts at Puerta Polanco and DEK Polanco are planned for the end of 2025.

"At Buro Property, we believe it is essential that our users' experience reflects the level of excellence and innovation that defines our buildings. We are proud that Insitu Santa Fe, Puerta Polanco, and DEK Polanco are the first properties in all of Latin America to offer this experience by integrating building access through Apple Wallet and Google Wallet.”

Salomón Shabot
CEO at Buro Property

Shabot continues: “This implementation not only sets a technological precedent but also tangibly enhances the daily lives of those who work in and visit our spaces, combining security, convenience, and modernity. The response has been overwhelmingly positive — both tenants and visitors appreciate being able to access the building as easily as they make a payment with their phone."

COLLABORATIVE INNOVATION

This workplace access solution was made possible through a joint effort by multiple partners:

  • HID, a worldwide leader in trusted identity solutions, acted as the mobile credential provider and supplied compatible card readers.
  • Sharry developed the Buro Property workplace app, which enables users to add their badge to their digital wallet and provides managers with a cloud-based portal to easily and remotely manage access badges and permissions.
  • Schindler, a global elevator provider, ensured a smooth user experience — enabling seamless movement from street to office.
  • IR Systems, a company specialized in providing electronic security solutions and systems, worked as an integrator to launch the integration with the C•CURE access control system.
“Seeing how access control evolves toward mobile solutions is incredible. With HID and Sharry, we've been able to take this trend to the next level, combining technology, security, and a truly seamless user experience with Apple Wallet and Google Wallet.”

Alejandro Espinosa
HID’s PACS Director Comercial México

“As a regional representative of Sharry in the Americas, witnessing this project evolve from concept to reality has been a deeply personal and professional achievement. This milestone marks a major step in bringing secure, convenient and innovative workplace access to the region, positioning Buro Property, HID and Sharry as true technology pioneers in Latin America,” said Carlos Vazquez, Latin American Business Development at Sharry.

WHY THIS MATTERS

The ability to add mobile credentials to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet and open the office with the user's smart devices delivers major benefits for both employees and property managers alike.

  • Improved Workplace Experience: With the mobile-first approach, users add their badge to their digital wallet just as they would a payment card or digital ID. The badge in Apple Wallet will work up to 5 hours even when the iPhone needs a charge.
  • Enhanced Security: Mobile access relies on the same rigorous security protocols used in mobile payments. In a corporate environment, additional protections such as facial recognition or fingerprint biometrics can be enforced.
  • Operational Efficiency: Wallet credential distribution occurs through the Buro Property workplace app, but the credentials can also be provisioned via web-based workflows — allowing security administrators to send a credential via email. This removes manual handovers and accelerates onboarding.
